Emma Stone has ‘hit back’ to defend a controversial scene in her new movie, Poor Things, after producers were forced to re-edit it before its UK release.
The movie, a science fantasy comedy film, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, caused a stir in the British Board of Film Classification due to particular intimate scenes. The movie has now been rated 18 in the UK after the certain scene has been altered. However, it seems like Stone disagrees, as she has comments to make on behalf of her character, Bella Baxter.

Emma Stones defends ‘controversial scenes’ in Poor Things
Stone’s character, Bella is a woman who has been brought back to life by an unconventional scientist, using the brain of her unborn child. She experiences life fresh, which includes engaging in intimate acts.
Defending some scenes, deemed controversial, the 35-year-old told BBC Radio 4: “Bella is completely free and without shame about her body.”
“So much of this was about being true to Bella’s experience. It is obviously a huge part of her experience and her growth, as it is, I think, for most people in life,” the Hollywood star explained.
Stone called the intimacy “just another aspect,” and says her character “doesn’t know to be embarrassed by these things or to cover things up.”
She then explained she felt for the camera to ‘shy away’ from that aspect “felt like a lack of being honest about who Bella is.”
Although the La La Land actress isn’t “a person that just wants to be naked all the time,” she says she’s someone who wants to “honor the character as fully as she possibly can.”
The blockbuster is ‘on track’ to win a number of awards

She’s already bagged an award at the Critics Choice, and the star’s on the way to potentially receive even more as Poor Things enters the BAFTAs with 11 nominations, with Stone in the running for leading actress.
The prestigious Oscar nominations are set to be revealed next week, and the film is once again expected to be prominent.
Emma made headlines this week as she picked up the award for best movie actress of the year at the Critics Choice Awards, beating Margot Robbie for Barbie, claiming her win “didn’t make any sense.”
However, it seemed like the roaring crowd, and La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling understood, as his ‘proud’ reaction went viral online as it “felt like the ending of La La Land.”
